Now 1/ <br /> PROCEDURES FOR UNDERGROUND TANK REMOVAL: <br /> I i <br /> 1. Disposal: Contractor to load, transport and dispose of hydro- <br /> carbon impacted soils in a permitted landfill facility. Placer <br /> Tractor Service has a current EPA Hazardous Waste Haulers permit <br /> (#2350) . Proper manifesting of wastes will be required before <br /> waste will be allowed to leave the site. <br /> L. SITE INSPECTION <br /> If requested a site inspector will be designated by the District to <br /> oversee Placer Tractor's compliance with any contract. The inspector <br /> will specifically perform the following items: <br /> 1. Inspection of the tank and excavation for evidence of leakage <br /> following removal. <br /> 2. Examination of import fill, backfill compaction, and asphalting <br /> to specifications. <br /> 3. Approval of manifest for waste disposal and/or rinse disposal. <br /> 4. Final site inspection for cleanup and completion of work tasks. <br /> M. REMOVAL OF UNDERGROUND TANKS <br /> The safe removal of underground tanks can be accomplished by taking the <br /> steps described below: <br /> a. Drain and flush the piping into the tank. <br /> b. Remove all flammable liquid from the tank which can be pumped out <br /> with Placer Tractor's vacuum pump. <br /> C. Dig down to the top of the tank. <br /> d. Remove the fill tube. Disconnect the fill, gauge, product and vent <br /> lines. Cap or plug open ends of lines which are not to be used. <br /> e. Temporarily plug all tank openings, complete the excavation, and <br /> remove the tank, placing it in a secure location. Block the tank to <br /> prevent movement. <br /> f. Remove flammable vapors. The tank will be conditioned by the <br /> method described in Section G. The vapors will also be .made inert <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br />
