LIBERTY FIRE DISTRICT 24124N.BRUELLARD. ACAMPO,CA95220
1 VOLUNTEERS SERVING THE COMMUNITY (209)339-1329 FAX(209)333-2916
October 7, 2002
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton CA 95202
LIBERTY FIRE DISTRICT, PROJECT FOR REMOVAL OF TWO UNDERGROUND
FUEL STORAGE TANKS.
As you are able to ascertain through a review of your records, Liberty Fire District
removed their single wall tanks in June of 1986 and installed two new double wall fuel
storage tanks. We did not, however, install double wall piping. Our Board of Directors
have made the decision to remove the tanks and piping and not use underground
storage tanks at all as we are a small rural fire district. However, our Board felt that it
would be prudent as well as environmentally friendly were we able to put these tanks to
a good use through recycling. Our further research indicates that we have the option
under the National Fire Code to make the best use of these tanks. We have made
arrangements for Seifert Dairy Farm to take them, to be put to farm use or fire
suppression and we shall track the tanks to insure they are delivered to Seifert Dairy
Farm at 8505 East Collier Road, Acampo CA. We will make certain the tanks are triple
rinsed prior to being taken off site.
Sincerely,

Stanley Seifert
Fire Chief
