See <br /> 29 C.F.R. 1910. 1000 (Table Z-2) , 1910. 1028, and 1910. 1200. <br /> Page 3 <br /> Delete the material under Section 2 . 1 and substitute the <br /> following: <br /> An UST is considered temporarily out of service if it is: <br /> a. Idle but will be returned to service; <br /> b. Awaiting abandonment in place; or <br /> C. Awaiting removal. <br /> An UST that meets EPA's standards for new tanks or that <br /> has been upgraded in accord with EPA requirements can <br /> remain in the status of "temporarily out of service" <br /> indefinitely. An UST that does not meet EPA standards <br /> must be permanently removed from service after 12 months <br /> unless the implementing agency grants an extension. A <br /> site assessment must be completed before an extension can <br /> be applied for. <br /> i <br /> Add the following sentence to Section 2 . 2 , subsection b. 2 . : <br /> (If more than 2 .5 centimeters (1 inch) of residue or more <br /> than 0. 3 percent of the capacity of the system remain in <br /> the tank, then release detection measures must be <br /> continued. ) <br /> • <br />
