Signs shall state"No Smoking" or"No Open Flames <br /> Fire/Explosion Prevention: <br /> 1 The contractor must have the appropriate fie extinguisher equipment on the job prior to excavation or <br /> removal of USTs. <br /> 2 No cutting torch, open flame,or spark producing equipment shall be used on the tank or piping at <br /> any time. Any source of ignition shall be at least 50 feet away from the excavation site <br /> 3. A properly calibrated combustible gas indicator and oxygen is required on the job site prior to excavation <br /> or removal. Calibration of the meter must be within the last three months <br /> 4. All tanks shall be checked for flammability and oxygen content, log the time and lower Explosive Limit <br /> (LEL) and oxygen content. <br /> 5. If at anytime during excavation, the lower explosive limit of the atmosphere around the tank exceeds 25 <br /> percent, all work will cease and proper mitigation procedures initiated. <br />
