NORTH CAL CONSTRUCTION (NCC) STANDARD OPE T <br />12 1989 <br />PROCEDURE <br />(SOP) # 88-005 <br />GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR UNDERGROUND TANK REMOVAL',lENTAI HEALTH <br />PERMIT / SERVICES <br />I • UND -R .RnUND STOgAGW TANK REMOVALS <br />The following procedures should be used <br />prior to the removal <br />Of any underground tank that previously stored a flammable <br />or combustible liquid. In addition, the procedures Outlined <br />below must be followed to ensure that the entire preparation <br />and removal operation is conducted in a safe manner and the <br />Possibility of an explosive incident is minimized. <br />A. Plan Review/t hed le Of Removal <br />The following sequence is required to ensure prompt <br />and successful removal inspections: <br />* Upon receipt of the approved —�� plans from <br />Environmental Health, forward one set to <br />Local Fire Department, and one set to the <br />local building department. <br />* At least 2 working days prior to the removal <br />Of underground storage tank(s), contact the <br />local Fire Prevention Field Department and <br />Health Department. <br />B. RAMOVa1/On-Site procedures <br />" North Cal Construction shall ensure that all <br />flammable liquids/materials have been removed <br />from the tank(s) by means of an approved vacuum <br />truck prior to excavation. <br />
