Box 100 EXECUTIVE OFFICE
Sacramento, California 95801
Dear Sirs:
This letter is to inform you of this company' s ongoing
effort to update our inventory of underground storage
tanks at our current service stations. As with most
companies, our reporting of these tanks last year (or in
19841 was based on a review of computer lists and other
company records.
Since our initial reporting, it has come to our attention
that some waste oil tanks may not have been accurately
reflected in these records. Waste oil tanks are
generally smaller than, and not used as regularly as,
gasoline tanks. Our records have not always been as
precise in listing the status of these tanks.
Accordingly, we have undertaken an extensive site by
site investigation to update our inventory. We
anticipate that this verification effort will be completed
by the end of this calendar year and that any corrections
necessary to our earlier reporting efforts will be made
within the first quarter of 1988.
In many cases, we reported waste oil tanks that are not
in fact present. In other situations, we may not have
reported tanks that are there, or may have incorrectly
stated their status (active vs. out of service) . In all
situations where tanks are still in the ground, we intend
to either remove or permit them as soon as feasible.
This verification process has been a time-consuming effort
by this company. We believe it reflects our continued
commitment to compliance with environmental laws and to
cooperative dealings with the implementing governmental
agencies. If you have any questions on this matter,
please call Mr. Christopher Winsor on (213 ) 486-2256.
Sincere;y yours, 0 (
S.
