0 • <br />the SWRCB Clean up Fund Letter of Committment, you must make application to <br />the State of California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCS) "Petroleum <br />Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" (Fund). An application package for the <br />Fund has been provided. <br />The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of the California Health and <br />Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br />storage tanks to: <br />1. Meet federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility; <br />2. Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized <br />releases of petroleum from USTs; and <br />3. Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br />injured by petroleum releases. <br />The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br />Claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible costs. <br />Applications must be submitted to the SWRCB Clean Up Fund by March 31, 1994 to <br />undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br />year. All subsurface investigations and remedial actions must be performed <br />under a workplan approved by PHS/EHD. <br />The Fund does not cover the costs incurred for the removal, repair, retrofit, <br />or installation of USTs.
