Government facility and has no known chemicals or friable <br /> asbestos in the area of the UST removal. The only known hazard is the empty <br /> 1,000 gallon UST which is NON-RCRA hazardous solid waste only in the State of <br /> California. It will be emptied and vacuumed to an acceptable level, minus one <br /> gallon of residual liquid. The UST will be purged of oxygen using 100 lbs of <br /> dry ice, checked with an LEL meter and shipped by a state certified <br /> transporter to a state certified disposal facility by manifest. This will <br /> include product supply, return and vent lines and pipes. Personal protective <br /> equipment, nor medical surveillance, is required under 29CFR 1910.120 for the <br /> removal of a UST. Each federal facility has a safety plan posted on site. <br /> Mr.William Copelan, Foreman, Environmental Compliance, will be the Project <br /> Manager Safety Officer and equipment operator. He is a full time employee of <br /> the FAA and is a certified hazardous materials specialist. The safe removal, <br /> documentation and manifesting of underground storage tanks are part of his <br /> assigned duties. <br /> There are no known safety hazards, heat stress, noise, silica dust or <br /> electrical in the area of the UST removal. Should the site prove to be <br /> contaminated, a site investigation will be made and remedial measures will be <br /> started. <br /> There are sanitation facilities available on site. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> James R.
