ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
San Joaquin Local Health Department PERMITISERVICES
Environmental Health Division
r & Post Office Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Dear Jamie:
Underground Tank Removal at PG&E's Manteca Service Center
10901 E. Highway 120, Manteca, California
Enclosed are test results for soil samples taken from beneath the
former tank and product line. As the results indicate, no evidence of
petroleum hydrocarbons was found in the soil. Other than removing the
remaining sections of the product line, PG&E feels no further
sub-surface actions are necessary.
Also enclosed are copies of the documents which confirm the
transportation, decontamination and ultimate disposal of the tank as
scrap. The copies include the hazardous waste manifest, the
certificate of tank degassification, and the bill of lading, weight
tag, and scrapping statement from the tank disposal firm.
During the tank removal process, approximately 50 cubic yards of soil
which contained petroleum hydrocarbons was excavated and stockpiled on
site. Soil samples from the stockpiled soil were analyzed and found
to contain levels of total petroleum hydrocarbons ranging from
non-detected to 103 ppm (see attached test results) .
PG&E proposes to aerate this soil on-site and has started the permit
process for soil aeration with the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control
District.
If you have further questions or wish to discuss these matters in
greater detail, please contact Mr. Mike Bennett at 209/263-5215.
Sincerely,
RCG:pb
Enclosures
