INTRODUCTION <br />' The following report summarizes the soil sampling <br />investigation performed at the South San Joaquin Irrigation <br />District facility located at 11011 East Highway 120 in Manteca, <br />' California. South San Joaquin Irrigation District contracted <br />J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates (JHK&A) to perform a site <br />investigation to assess the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in <br />the soil beneath an existing tank. This investigation was <br />' performed in accordance with a plan of study developed in concert <br />with South San Joaquin Irrigation District and San Joaquin Local <br />Health District. The JHK&A, proposal dated June 12, 1986 <br />' addressed the key elements of the plan of study. This report <br />describes the work elements associated with our field <br />investigation and presents the analytical results. <br />' II. BACKGROUND <br />' The South San Joaquin Irrigation District is located at <br />11011 East Highway 120 in the city of Manteca, as shown on Plate <br />No. 1. It is the understanding of J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates <br />' that a single tank that once contained weed oil, a light oil <br />petroleum hydrocarbon, has been drained and is no longer in <br />service. <br />III. PURPOSE <br />' South San � Joaquin Irrigation District contracted J.H. <br />Kleinfelder & Associates to perform a soil sampling investigation <br />' to assess whether petroleum hydrocarbons are present in the soil <br />beneath the empty weed oil tank. <br />The scope of work included: <br />to The drilling of two angled soil borings beneath the <br />weed oil tank. <br />
