Appropriate EPA protocols were
used in sample collection, preservation, identification, transportation and
analysis. Samples were tested for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, xylene,
the total petroleum hydrocarbons and total lead. Sample analysis protocols
utilized were unable to isolate the benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and
xylene levels from the Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons levels, indicating that
the residuals, if any, were of an undetermined age and below the levels of
detection of the EPA Protocol used (EPA 8015). Soil borings were
installed utilizing a truck mounted 6 -inch solid flyte auger. Borings were
installed in accordance with the guidelines of the RWOCB and/or San Joaquin
Well Installation Specifications. Whenever a conflict arose between these
guidelines and specifications, the most severe prevailed.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the information gathered to date, we make the following comment
and recommendation:
- Based upon the analytical results of samples gathered from within the
tank removal excavation backfill, and the area immediately adjacent to
the backfill, we see no reason for further action for this area at
this time..
Dr. Alan D.
