Overall , the next phase
of proposed work is adequate. We do have, however, a number of comments regarding
the workplan which we discussed with you and your consultants at a meeting on 8
March 1988 (sign-up sheet enclosed) . The comments are as follows:
1. Water levels need to be presented and contoured on a plan map of the site and
surrounding area. Water levels should be measured at least twice monthly.
2. A new time schedule for completing work needs to be submitted. The existing
one is out of date.
3. Details regarding drilling methods, past and proposed logging procedures,
monitoring well materials and construction techniques, development methods,
and purging/sampling protocol need to be submitted.
4. Proposed well locations should be presented on a site plan with appropriate
identification. Wells screened at different depths to define vertical
gradients and contamination need to be completed at single locations in
clusters.
5. . Laboratory methods should be identified by method numbers; include QA/AC.
6. Screen intervals of deep monitoring wells must be based on the stratigraphy
encountered.
7. The proposed soil sampling locations should be adjusted or reduced based on
previous sampling results.
8. Future report submittals should contain an introduction and summary of project
status, description of work performed, presentation of data. discussion and
interpretation of results, recommendations for additonal work (if any' , with
an accompanying time schedule. All data, including QA/QC results, should be
summarized in tables. Actual results, logs field sheet; etc. should be
appendicized.
