Phase II Hazardous Materials Study for the Lodi Rail/Multimodal Station July 24, 1997
to Wilbur Smith Associates Project No. E168
' We do not recommend further exploration or analysis; however, this assumes that the risks stated
above are acceptable. It should be noted that although efforts were made to identify areas within the
' site with potential hazardous materials and/or petroleum hydrocarbon issues, this does not completely
eliminate the possibility of such issues existing within the site.
' LIMITATIONS
Our findings and opinions are based on information that we obtained on given dates, through records
' review, site review, exploration, and related activities. It is possible that other information exists or
subsequently has become known, just as it is possible for conditions we have observed to have
changed after our observation. For these and associated reasons,Espana Geotechnical Consulting and
' many of its peers routinely advise clients for Site Assessment services that it would be a mistake to
place unmerited faith in findings and opinions conveyed via a Site Assessment report.
Site assessment activities were performed, our findings obtained, and our recommendations prepared
in accordance with generally accepted principles and practices. We cannot under any circumstances
warrant or guarantee that not finding indicators of hazardous materials means that hazardous materials
' do not exist on the site. Additional research and exploration can reduce the risks, but no techniques
now commonly employed can eliminate these risks altogether.
' This report represents EGC's professional interpretation and judgement based on information gathered
during investigative activities. Professional judgements expressed herein are restricted to facts
available within the established limits of the scope of work, budget, and schedule. EGC assumes no
responsibility for the existence or disclosure of conditions which did not come to its knowledge, or
conditions not generally recognized as environmentally unacceptable at the time this report was
prepared.
1
1
1
1
1
' 10
' V ESPANA GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTING
