A exclusion zone will be <br /> established approximately 10 feet around boring location work areas.No unauthorized person shall <br /> be allowed within this exclusion area. <br /> 4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br /> SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS: <br /> Benzene Unknown <br /> Toluene Unknown <br /> Ethyl-benzene Unknown <br /> Total xylenes Unknown <br /> MTBE Unknown <br /> Gasoline Unknown <br /> Diesel Unknown <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> I. Hydrocarbon fuels-Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. Exposure to <br /> these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, nose, and <br /> throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervol Ls system. Symptoms <br /> of exposure at these concentrations include headache,nausea,drowsiness,dizziness,and loss <br /> of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTEX etc.) are known or suspected <br /> carcinogens. <br /> The additional potential hazards include: Slip-trip-fall hazards, noise, heavy equipment (i,e., <br /> excavator/backhoe), vibration hazards traffic hazards etc. <br /> :Icluonc•erl GcuTnvirunmcnh�l,Inc. <br />
