(Shaw)is eased to present this letter work plan detailing proposed soil sampling and laboratory analysis ctivities at the above-mentioned AT&T facility. AT&T is planning on replacing the s grade piping leading from a 25,000- gallon diesel underground storage tank(UST)to the mergency backup generator at the above- mentioned AT&T facility. As part of the permit a lication, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD)r uested a work plan be submitted detailing collection and analysis of a soil sample from acent to the piping planned for removal. The following sections describe the proposed sc a of work. Soil Sampling Activities The approximately five-foot length of ping is located underneath a sidewalk along Lindsay Street(Figure 1). AT&T is plannin n removing the primary piping,and leaving the secondary containment in place to serve as ro guard for the new double-walled primary piping. In order to access subgrade soil ,AT&T will arrange for coring of the concrete sidewalk at a location adjacent to the pip' Following coring, Shaw personnel will advance a soil boring through the fill material two eet into native soils using a hand auger. A sample of the soil will then be collected using a c e barrel sampler lined with a brass sample tube. Soil boring advancement and sample ollection will be performed under the direction of SJCEHD personnel. Following collection, a ends of the sampling tube will be covered with Teflon tape and capped. The soil sample will en be appropriately labeled,placed in a cooler with ice, and transported under chain-of-cus dy protocol to the analytical laboratory.
