Clert,
AUDR£4 GiLLISPIE
MARGUARETTE SCHMI[]i
Sunt to various consultants :
Thane. you for your Expressed i n'teres i i.rJ being [ or si t3E► ed as
a consultant to our school district in m.itiaating the problems
associated with our removed 10 , 000 gallon fuel tank .
In my letter of Arril 4 , 249C 1 briefly stated the
circumstances of our tanh removal . I will expand somewhat on
that matter at this time .
In August , 1989 our District had a 10 , 000 gallon underground
fuel tan}-. removed because it would not pass a leak test as
required by San Joaquin County . Soil from, the excavation was
stockpiled on site and the excavation was bac}:filled with pea
gravel . A 12 inch pipe extending fron. the bottor of the pit to
the surface was set ir, Place prior to the bachfi13 with an access
cover placed at the top . Soil samples were taken at the time of
removes2 and sent to a testing laboratory . ThE test results
indicated some cant.&Mination Of the soil . Copdes of those
laboratory tests are included herewith for your information . The
stcckpiled soil was subsequently aerated and spread out at the
site ir, accordance with the requirements of the Sar, Joaquin
County hir Pollution Control District .
Our District har chosen tc mitigate any rernaining site
contatr.iriation left in the ground at the site of the removed tank
by cotsl, lyi.ng with t h& Sart Joaquin County Erivironmenta) Heetltt,
Department ' s Pilot Program . It is our desire to have the County
conf irn that we have a "clear, site" at the end of our cleanup
process . One of the first steps in this process is to request
proposa l C f ron. consultant!- for Mitigation mea sure= for our site
that are consistent with the County ' s pclicieE and cost effective
tc, our District .
