The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
Quarterly Ground Water Monitoring and Remediation Progress Report — First Quarter
2009 (QMR) dated May 7, 2009, submitted by your consultant Stantec and offers the
following.
The QMR covered the ground water sampling event conducted on January 22, 2009.
Eleven shallow and nine deep monitoring wells, seven ground water extraction wells,
and two soil vapor extraction wells were sampled this period for gasoline range organics
(GRO), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX), and the fuel oxygenates,
soluble lead, and the lead scavengers.
Following the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Resolution #2009-0042
dated May 19, 2009 to reduce quarterly sampling, the EHD modifies the sampling
requirements for the site as follows:
1. Wells MW-4, MW-7, and EW-5 are to be sampled semi-annually for GRO,
BTEX, 1,2-dichloroethane (DCA), and MtBE starting 2009.
2. Wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-5, EW-3, EW-6, and DMW-5, DMW-6, DMW-7, DMW-
10, DMW-11, DMW-12, DMW-13, and DMW-14 are to be sampled annually for
GRO and MtBE, tert butyl alcohol (TBA), and DCA starting 2010.
3. The remaining wells are to be sampled biennially (once every two years) for
GRO, BTEX, the oxygenates, and lead scavengers, starting 2011.
The EHD will not require sampling and laboratory analysis for soluble or total lead.
Please advise the EHD of the dates the sampling events will occur.
Please be advised that California Underground Storage Tank (UST) Regulations require
that responsible parties for leaking USTs submit quarterly reports to the EHD. For
quarterly reports when no sampling has occurred, the reports due at the EHD must
include the status of the site, activities that have occurred at the site during the reporting
period since the last reporting period, and the dates future activities will occur at the site.
All reports are to be submitted to Geotracker.
