samples collected were received from Mr. Valdez (Attachment 9). The following table
summarizes the results in units of mg/kg that are of concern:
Sam le ID,results in mg/kg
Analyte Sandpaper Floor Drains Paint TTLC level
Barium 3140 4250 10,000
Cadmium 18.2 100
Chromium 50.5 500
Copper 684 2500
Lead 64.5 1000
Zinc 2670 1 5850 5000
The "floor drains" sample exceeded the Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC) of
5,000 mg/kg for Zinc. All the other results listed on the above table are under TTLC levels,
but require further testing to determine if they exceed their respective Soluble Threshold
Limit Concentration (STLC) levels. Values that exceed TTLC or STLC values are
considered hazardous due to toxicity.
On December 27, 2006, Ms. Linda Turkatte, Lead Senior REHS, EHD,received the STLC
result for zinc from the "floor drains" sample (Attachment 10). The result of 524 ml/L
exceeds the STLC value of 250 mg/L for zinc and therefore is considered hazardous due to
toxicity.
On September 7, 2007, Mr. Willy Ng, Lead Senior REHS, EHD, received a faxed copy of
preliminary STLC results for the "floor drains" sample from Mr. Valdez. All results other
than zinc were found below STLC values. There was not enough of the "sandpaper"
sample to run further tests and the "paint" sample was not further analyzed. Mr. Valdez
also mailed a legible copy of these results to EHD (Attachment 11). The following table
summarizes the results in mg/L:
Floor Drains
Analyte results in mg/L STLC level
Barium 25.99 100
Cadmium 0.364 1.0
Chromium 1.292 5
Copper 0.240 25
Lead 2.800 5.0
Zinc 524 250
Attachments 12, 13 and 14 include parcel information, facility and owner information,
and the facility file narrative, respectively.
3
