Wood Co. has entered into a contract with <br /> the Atchison-Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. to remove from <br /> their Orwood Bridge site, and dispose of, bridge debris. <br /> This bridge was constructed in the early 1900 's and <br /> upgraded in the mid-1930's- with creosoted timbers. There <br /> has been some maint;enanue work where weak timbers were <br /> Shared up or replaced over the past 30 years or so. <br /> This material now sits on dry land in the Delta on <br /> Jersey Island, where it is being sorted into separate piles <br /> for disposal . That material which is determined to be of <br /> recent vintage (less than 30 years old) will be shipped to a <br /> Class 2 disposal site in tarped trucks. That which is the <br /> material installed in the 1930 ' s and earlier will be hauled <br /> to a Class 3 landfill in tarped trucks for immediate burial <br /> to prevent scavenging. <br /> We trust this proposal meets with your approval . The <br /> Class 2 facility proposed is B.F.I. in Livermore and the <br /> class 3 facilities are L&D Landfill in Sacramento and/or the <br /> Class 3 landfills operated by San Joaquin County. <br /> Very truly yours, <br /> W.
