LOCATION <br /> Site-Wide <br /> REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. General <br /> Prevent or reduce the discharge of pollutants to storm water from building repair, <br /> remodeling, and construction by using soil erosion controls, enclosing or covering <br /> building material storage areas, covering and/or diking storm drain catch basins, using <br /> good housekeeping practices, using safer alternative products, and training employees. <br /> 1.Each job site should be managed in such a manner to avoid discharges of <br /> prohibited substances to the storm drain system. <br /> 2.Routine inspection of job site should be performed to ensure that construction„ <br /> demolition, and excavation materials (liquid or solid) are not entering the storm <br /> drain system. <br /> 3.Keep the job site tidy and clean up debris regularly. <br /> 4.Stor7n drain catch basins should be covered to prevent pollutants and sediments <br /> from entering the storm drain system. <br /> 5.Special precautions should be employed if rain is forecast or if water is applied. <br /> B. Good Housekeeping <br /> Proper care involves a variety of mostly common sense, housekeeping actions such as: <br /> 1.Keep the work site clean and orderly. Removing debris in a timely fashion. <br /> Sweep the area. <br /> 2.Cover materials of particular concern such as hazardous materials or sand piles <br /> that must remain outdoors, particularly during the rainy season. <br /> 3.Educate employees who are doing the work. <br /> 4.Inform on-site contractors of Robertson-Ceco Corp. policy. Include appropriate <br /> provisions in their contract to make certain proper housekeeping and disposal practices <br /> are implemented. <br /> 5.Make sure that nearby storm drains are well marked to minimize the chance of <br /> inadvertent disposal of residual paints and other liquids. <br /> 6.Do not dump waste liquids down the storm drain. <br /> 7.Advise concrete truck drivers to not wash their truck over the storm drain. <br /> 8.Cleaning equipment or tools over catch basins is prohibited. <br /> C.Painting <br /> 1.Painting operations should be properly enclosed or covered to avoid drift. <br /> 2.Use temporary scaffolding to hang drop cloths or draperies to prevent drift. Use <br /> application equipment that minimizes overspray. <br />
