E D <br />INTER0Qt4"ECT TECHNOLOGIES <br />WASTE SOURCE REDUCTION PLAN <br />2. Purpose <br />The purpose of this Waste Source Reduction Plan is to establish a system to <br />monitor hazardous waste production, identify possible economically feasible <br />source reduction measures, and document the management of those measures. <br />This Plan complies with California Senate Bill 14 commonly referred to as SB14 <br />or the "Hazardous Waste Source Reduction and Management Review Act of <br />1989." SB14 mandates that generators producing threshold levels of identifiable <br />Federal and State (CA) hazardous waste must prepare a Source Reduction <br />Evaluation Review and Plan (Plan), Hazardous Waste Management <br />Performance Report (Report), and Summary Progress Report (SPR) every 4 <br />years. <br />3. Terms and Definitions <br />Reporting Year - The calendar year immediately preceding the year in <br />which a source reduction document is to be prepared. For source <br />reduction documents due September 1, 1999, the reporting year is <br />calendar year 1998. <br />Routinely Generated Waste - Repeatedly generated waste as part of a <br />site's normal operations. Some operations may routinely generate waste <br />less frequently than once a year. In these cases, the generated waste <br />should be annually prorated over the time between generating episodes <br />and added into the annual waste generation total for the reporting year. <br />Aqueous Waste — Refers to a hazardous waste stream processed in a <br />wastewater treatment unit which discharges to a POTW or under a <br />NPDES permit. <br />Non -Aqueous Waste — Refers to all hazardous wastes not covered by <br />aqueous waste, such as manifested wastes and aqueous wastes <br />drummed and shipped off-site. <br />
