CIRCUITS
AND CIRCUIT WORKS
On May 8, 1992, members of my staff inspected and sampled wstewater at R.V. Circuits and_
Circuit Works. It was discovered during this inspection that hazardous waste was not properly
labelled at either facility. The following hazardous waste violations were noted:
R.V. Circuits was found to be storing waste wood from the old plating area in plastic containers,
which were not identified. The wood had a green/bluish cast indicating that it was impregnated
with metals from long exposure as part of the flooring for plating area employees. Also, solder
dragout was being stored in an unmarked container. Some barrels of labelled hazardous waste
appeared to be approaching their 90 day limit- 3/27/92 CAD 095654273. A Correction Notice
was issued by my staff for this violation.
We are also concerned about the disposition of wall board which is in the plating room. It will
soon be removed and replaced with materials which meet the Building Code requirements. It
is very likely that this wall board has become permeated with metals and may be deemed
hazardous waste when it is removed.
At Circuit Works, we found that nickel waste, which they batch treat, was not properly
identified. Resist was also not labelled. Hazardous waste barrels did not have an accumulation
date (alkaline waste 90912047 copper ammonium chloride). Waste corrosive sludge which
Circuit Works batch treats dated 3/5/92 was found to be approaching the 90 day deadline.
This is the third time we have seen hazardous waste barrels with labels, but no accumulation
date on the label at Circuit Works. A Correction Notice was issued for this violation.
"Service with Pride"
"STOCKTON...CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT"
