Alegre Trucking Company,Inc.
5100 West State Route Highway 12
Lodi,CA 95242
Subject: Former Trucking Facility
802 North Cluff
Lodi, California
WORK PLAN FOR DRAINAGE POND INVESTIGATION(PHASE ONE)
Dear Mr. Fowler:
ENGEO Incorporated is pleased to present this work plan for the evaluation of an abandoned
drainage pond located in the northeast area of the subject property (Figure 1). Soil contamination
was discovered within the area of the former drainage pond during 1996 sampling activities
conducted on the property. The proposed scope of services includes the following:
• Observation of the excavation of six to eight exploratory test pits within the area of the former
drainage pond.
• Drilling of two exploratory auger borings.
• Field screening of soils for volatile organics using a photoionization detector.
• Recovery of representative soil samples from one of the auger borings.
• Recovery of a ground-water sample from on a of the auger borings.
• Laboratory analysis of the soil and ground-water samples.
• Preparation of an investigation report summarizing field and laboratory work with conclusions
and recommendations for further remediation/characterization, if necessary.
BACKGROUND
The drainage pond was operated until approximately 1980 when it was filled with soil/debris and
abandoned (Figure 2). According to Alegre Trucking personnel, the pond collected storm water
runoff. In September 1996, San Joaquin County personnel recovered a soil sample from a test pit
2401 Crow Canyon Road•Suite 200•San Ramon,CA 94583-1545•(510)838-1600•Fax(510)838-7425
E-mail:engstaff®engeo.com•WWW:http://www.hooked.net/engeo
