One spill was found around two 55-gallon drums of ink with <br /> petroleum distillates,while the other was from an active leak of two black canisters of an unknown liquid. <br /> Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire,explosion,or release of hazardous <br /> waste to air,soil,or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately stop the <br /> leaks,clean the spills, and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and <br /> supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed, as well as photos showing the spills have been <br /> cleaned. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(d)Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br /> Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste <br /> stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days.Two 55 gallon drums of ink with petroleum <br /> distillates lacked accumulation start dates. Since it cannot be determined how long the hazardous waste has been <br /> on site,immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest. Submit a <br /> copy of the manifest to the END within 30 days. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 605 CCR 66262.34(f) Failed to completely label containers or portable tanks of hazardous waste. <br /> Two 55-gallon drums of ink with petroleum distillates were lacking hazardous waste labeling information. All <br /> hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: <br /> -the words"Hazardous Waste" <br /> -name and address of generator <br /> -hazardous properties <br /> -physical state <br /> -composition(Contents) <br /> -accumulation start date <br /> Immediately label these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the required information. <br /> Since it cannot be determined how long the hazardous waste has been on site,immediately contact a licensed <br /> hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD. <br /> This is a repeat violation,Class II. <br /> Overall Inspection Comments: <br /> On-site with Garrett Backus to conduct a hazardous waste facility closure inspection,together with Jamie Lima's <br /> hazardous materials closure inspection. Final hazardous waste manifests from October 2017 were reviewed. <br /> Various waste and spills were found at the time of inspection.
