When brought inside for processing the print towels are steam heated to recover
solvents. The solvent vapors are condensed and separated from the water fraction. The water fraction is routed to the
wastewater pretreatment system. The solvent fraction is stored in an aboveground storage tank with proper venting and
secondary containment.A licensed hazardous waste transporter picks up the solvent and transports it to a licensed
hazardous waste transfer facility where the solvent is consolidated for fuel blending. The blended fuels are used in
"mixed-source fuel' burning equipment.Clean, dry print towels are returned to customers for re-use.
Procedures followed to assure environmental compliance with the State of California regulations and policies:
• The waste generating facility(G&K Pittsburg plant) has a proper EPA ID number
• The appropriate organizations have been notified of our waste generation activity
• Solvent wastes are properly characterized, contained, marked and labeled
• Leak detection inspections of solvent extraction and storage equipment and appurtenances are conducted
monthly
• Solvent storage tank inspections are conducted daily
• Solvent storage tank integrity tests are conducted annually
• An up-to-date hazardous waste contingency plan guide our emergency preparedness and response activities
• Employees with hazardous waste related responsibilities are trained annually on applicable hazardous waste
management requirements
• Employees with hazardous materials related responsibilities are trained annually on applicable hazardous
materials management requirements
• Solvent waste generation volumes are tracked and recorded
• Solvent waste transportation and disposition is tracked and recorded on hazardous waste manifests
• Federal Hazardous Waste Reports are submitted biennially
• State Hazardous Waste Reports are submitted annually
• Required records are kept for seven years per G&K policy
5900 Alder Avenue
Sacramento,Ca 95828
(800)938-0827
(916)381-1331 Fax
www.gkseNices.com
Delivering Uniform Service Excellence.
