In your letter you
pointed out that the total lead for sample Sierra Chem-3 was 78 mg/kg which exceeded
the STLC limit of 5 mg/I by more than 10 times and would also need a STLC analysis.
We contacted Western Environmental Testing Lab and obtained the STLC results for
lead for that sample (copy attached). The results were 1.3 mg/I which is far less than the
5 mg/I limit.
You also recommended we contact Randy Adams with the California Department of
Substances Control relating to the data we had generated. I talked to him and he
informed me there are different cleanup levels for Industrial sites and suggested we look
at the California Health Screening Levels and the Region 9 PRG Tables to determine how
our data compares to see if there is a need for their involvement.
In doing so we find that total chromium is not listed in Table 1(copy attached) of
California Human Health Screening Levels for Soil. Lead and lead compounds is listed
at 3500 mg/kg. We also reviewed the Region 9 PRG tables(copy attached). They list
Preliminary Remediation Goals for soil at industrial sites for total chromium to be 450
mg/kg and lead to be 800 mg/kg. None of our results approach those levels.
•
neo SPARKS ♦ BATTLE MOUNTAIN ♦ STOCKTON
