Cummings <br /> Regulatory Compliance Mananer <br /> Sierra Chemical Company COO <br /> /\ <br /> Box 50730 <br /> Sparks, Nevada 89435-0730 <br /> Fax (775) 358-0987 <br /> Re: 1010 Industrial Drive, Stockton <br /> Dear Mr. Cummings, <br /> On September 8, 2006, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (EHD) received your packet of information that included a letter dated August 31, 2006, a <br /> copy of your sampling protocol with a letter dated March 1, 2006, the soil sample results <br /> with a map of the sampling area and the chain of custody from the sampling event on <br /> July 7, 2006. <br /> As mentioned in your August 31, 2006 letter, all four chromium sample results run for the <br /> TTLC exceeded the STLC limit of 5 mg/I but were below the TTLC. Three of the four <br /> chromium samples exceeded it by more than 10 times requiring a STLC analysis. <br /> Additionally, the lab results for Sample ID "Sierra Chem-3" indicated total lead (78 mg/kg) <br /> exceeded the STLC limit of 5 mg/I by more than 10 times which also requires a STLC <br /> analysis. You had STLC analyses for all four chromium samples and the results of those <br /> analyses were below 5 mg/l. You did not run a STLC for the total lead, which is still <br /> needed. <br /> The EHD does not believe the results indicate, as you stated in your August 31, 2006 <br /> letter ...... the previous sample collected on July 28, 2005 was anomalous and not <br /> representative of the area." In fact, after reviewing the results and seeing there are <br /> levels of metals in the soil, albeit not at hazardous levels for the data submitted so far, <br /> the EHD recommends you submit your data to the California Department of Toxic <br /> Substances Control (DTSC) for review.
