Sierra Chemical Co. . <br /> SOP 917 RO <br /> Waste Management Program <br /> Preface <br /> Waste Management Commitment <br /> The Management of Sierra Chemical Co. is committed to development and <br /> implementation of systems and procedures that are proactive and designed to protect it's <br /> employees, general public, and the environment from any releases and hazardous effects <br /> of chemicals handled or processed at it's Stockton, California facility. <br /> It is towards this end that the policies and procedures contained in this Waste <br /> Management Program are to be implemented, will be stressed during training, and apply <br /> to all personnel as described under the following"Responsibilities", in the daily <br /> operations of this facility. <br /> Responsibilities <br /> The responsibilities listed below are as they apply to the information contained in this <br /> "Waste Management Program"and are not to be interpreted as the only responsibilities <br /> employees have. <br /> Facility Manager: The Facility Manager is responsible for the implementation and <br /> oversight of all policies and procedures. Responsibilities as they relate to this procedure <br /> include but are not limited to: <br /> • Maintaining documentation on spills/releases and mitigation. <br /> • Ensuring that all waste materials are properly treated in accordance with this <br /> procedure. <br /> • Communications and/or correspondence with regulatory agencies. <br /> • Making arrangements for the disposal of chemicals that cannot be reclaimed or <br /> recycled into the process stream. <br /> • Employee training and documentation. <br /> • Making sure spill control kits are maintained and readily available. <br /> Production Supervisor: The Production Supervisor is responsible for making sure that <br /> the production employees are following the Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) <br /> relating to their activities at the Stockton Facility. In the event of an incident he is <br /> responsible for taking measures to minimize the spill/release of chemicals. <br /> • Making notification to the Facility General Manager when there is a chemical <br /> spill or release. <br /> • Implementation of spill response. <br /> • Making sure the recovered material is properly containerized, labeled, and stored. <br /> • Completing a Work Order Request for repair of process equipment that <br /> contributed to spill/release. <br /> Hourly Employees: It is the responsibility of every employee to conduct their activities <br /> in a manner to prevent spills and the release of chemicals by following Standard <br /> Operating Procedures SOP'S.
