02 OCT 3? AM I I 12
2302 LARKIN CIRCLE
SPARKS,NEVADA 89431 6587
P.O.BOX 50730 SIERRA CHEMICAL CO.
SPARKS,NEVADA 89435-0730
TELEPHONE)775)358-0888
FAX(775)358-0987
October 31, 2002
Environmental Health Department
San Joaquin County
304 E. Weber Ave.
Stockton, CA 95202-2708
Attn: Kasay L. Foley, R.E.H.S.
Re: Sample Analysis Results
Dear Ms. Foley,
Please find enclosed the analysis results for five samples that were collected, including
the three collected by SJEHD and two others collected at a later date. The samples
drawn were:
SC01 - Diatomaceous earth from the filter cake press
SCO2 - Liquid/Soil taken from between containment and the rail spur - H✓
➢ SC03 - Liquid runoff from the Powell pump RW
¢-➢ SC04A- Paint chips/Filings taken from 150# fill station
SC05A- Sludge taken from the large open top tank located next to tank farm n/
As a result of these tests, as well as research we have done of Title 22 in the
development of our Waste Management Program, we are in the process of formulating
a number of questions that we would like to share with you. I should mention that
effective the 1s` of this month, Sierra Chemical has provided me with some assistance
by hiring an additional individual in regulatory compliance, hence, there are two of us
dedicated to working on the Stockton facility issues. His name is Gary Cummings and
he comes with extensive mining experience background in environmental affairs.
Hopefully, by the first of next week, I would like to contact you to set up an appointment
for us to be able to meet with you with our questions and to deal with several other, but
related, issues.
Also, I have located and am enclosing a copy of the first test results that we had done
on the concrete pipe when we first discovered it while excavating for installation of
some underground piping. Once again, you will note that the findings are that there
were no fibers detected and that it is classified as Transite. Should mention that, per
your request we have not made any attempts to remove from site.
OL,
SPARKS ♦ BATTLE MOUNTAIN ♦ STOCKTON ♦ ROCKLIN
