Weber Ave.
Courthouse, Room 610
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: August 24, 2006 Wastewater Release
Dear Ms. Luces
This report is being provided as a written follow-up to the verbally notification regarding
the release of wastewater that occurred August 24, 2006. I have attached a detailed
chronology of the events leading up to the release and the actions taken by Lodi Metal
Tech, Inc. to mitigate the effects of the release.
The release that occurred August 24, 2006 was the first release Lodi Metal Tech, Inc.
(LMT) had to the City of Lodi storm drain system and LMT does not want such an
incident to occur again. To ensure this, the cause of the release was carefully studied.
Three actions have been taken to prevent another release from this process.
1) All employees who work in the paint line area and with this process were shown
the cause of the wastewater release and the result. Several steps were taken to
change the priming process that was the root cause of the release. The valve used
to allow water into the pump is spring actuated. The employee involved with the
activity resulting in the release had several things to do in the start up process.
The employee had used a chain to hold the valve open while the employee
proceeded with the other items. This retaining chain has been removed and
employees must manually hold the valve open.
