• S/LGAN CONTAINERS CORPORATION, STOCKTON CALIFORNIA <br /> JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE & MATERIALS MANAGEMENT <br /> Applicable Positions: #3 <br /> COATER/COIL SUPERVISOR <br /> RCRA-RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> • Recognizes plant wastes and assures container compatibility with the chemical and physical <br /> properties of wastes is maintained. <br /> • Follows directions from Lead Coater/Coil Supervisor for waste marking and movement <br /> procedures. Assures that containers of waste are being moved in a safe manner. <br /> • Supervises substitute workers for the movement of wastes from the accumulation area to the <br /> storage area, and movement during shipments. <br /> • Equip drums with complete, legible waste identification labels and applicable placards during <br /> waste accumulation. <br /> • Secures representative waste samples for waste identification and ensures proper shipment <br /> of waste samples. <br /> • Conducts weekly inspections of waste and Hazardous Material storage and accumulation <br /> areas, and emergency spill equipment; reports deficiencies and anomalies to Lead <br /> Coater/Coil Supervisor. <br /> • Follows safety procedures to handle wastes and emergencies. <br /> • Notifies supervisor of waste spills, or emergency situation. <br /> • Minimizes spills only in a safe manner. <br /> • Maintains a safe distance from spill area and alerts other employees to avoid spill/emergency <br /> condition until an emergency coordinator appears. <br /> • Assists with minor material clean-up within work area. <br /> • Follows the directions of the primary emergency coordinator, secondary emergency <br /> coordinator, and supervisor during emergencies. <br /> • Recognizes and promptly responds to plant emergency signals. <br /> SKILLS. EDUCATION OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> • High school education or equivalent work experience. <br /> • Knowledge of wastestreams handled during the job function and hazards associated with <br /> waste chemicals. <br /> 4 <br />
