• S/LGAN CONTAINERS CORPORATION, STOCKTON CALIFORNIA JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE & MATERIALS MANAGEMENT Applicable Positions: #3 COATER/COIL SUPERVISOR RCRA-RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES: • Recognizes plant wastes and assures container compatibility with the chemical and physical properties of wastes is maintained. • Follows directions from Lead Coater/Coil Supervisor for waste marking and movement procedures. Assures that containers of waste are being moved in a safe manner. • Supervises substitute workers for the movement of wastes from the accumulation area to the storage area, and movement during shipments. • Equip drums with complete, legible waste identification labels and applicable placards during waste accumulation. • Secures representative waste samples for waste identification and ensures proper shipment of waste samples. • Conducts weekly inspections of waste and Hazardous Material storage and accumulation areas, and emergency spill equipment; reports deficiencies and anomalies to Lead Coater/Coil Supervisor. • Follows safety procedures to handle wastes and emergencies. • Notifies supervisor of waste spills, or emergency situation. • Minimizes spills only in a safe manner. • Maintains a safe distance from spill area and alerts other employees to avoid spill/emergency condition until an emergency coordinator appears. • Assists with minor material clean-up within work area. • Follows the directions of the primary emergency coordinator, secondary emergency coordinator, and supervisor during emergencies. • Recognizes and promptly responds to plant emergency signals. SKILLS. EDUCATION OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: • High school education or equivalent work experience. • Knowledge of wastestreams handled during the job function and hazards associated with waste chemicals. 4
