7.0 Sandblasting Operation
Sandblasting operations will be conducted on a concrete slab located as shown in Figure
2. Curtains will be placed around the sandblasting area to prevent the sand from leaving
the sandblasting area. In this way, all used sand will drop onto the concrete pad. At the
.. conclusion of sandblasting, the sand will be picked up and placed on a plastic sheet,
remote from the sandblasting pad. The stored used sand will be covered with plastic
,. sheets, secured with sand bags or other means to prevent the wind from uncovering the
sand, and/or the rain from contacting the sand.
When sufficient used sand has been stockpiled on the plastic sheet, but no less frequently
than once per quarter, a composite sample will be secured as outlined above, and
" analyzed for copper (TTLC). Repeat analyses (STLC) and disposal will be as outlined
above.
This will prevent any possibility of contaminating the soil, groundwater, or surface water
from used sand from sandblasting operations.
8.0 Health and Safety
A Health and Safety plan to support field activities has been developed as a stand alone
document (Appendix 3). Prior to commencement of field activities, a site safety meeting
r
will be held at a designated command post near the working area. Potential hazards,
personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe working procedures, will be reviewed. A
copy of the site specific health and safety plan will be on site at all times during the
course of this work.
- 5 -
