Valley Industries
Site Audit October 18, 2004
As a result of the Public Health Services of San Joaquin County's inspection and
violation notices, Chemical Data Management Systems (CDMS) conducted an initial
audit of Valley Industries' facility to determine the extent of the compliance support
requirements that were needed. This audit was conducted on March 18, 2004. Since that
time several programs and corrective actions were implemented to bring the facility into
compliance.
A follow-up audit of the facility was conducted on October 18, 2004 to determine the
current compliance status. Significant progress has been made in the management of
hazardous waste. Overall, the facility has implemented practices that have controlled
hazardous materials throughout the facility as evidenced by the improved appearance of
the facility. The following are specific findings and the status of past non-compliance
areas.
1. Storage of waste beyond the 90 days
An audit of all hazardous waste storage areas resulted in no findings of hazardous
waste storage containers stored greater than 90 days. Valley has been conducting
daily inspections of the waste storage areas and has documented the inspections.
2. Waste Trainings
Informal discussions have taken place between the environmental coordinator,
plant floor supervisors, and employees to address the changes required to comply
with hazardous waste storage and labeling requirements. The formal training will
take place by Jan. 2005.
Page 1
Prepared by Chemical Data Management Systems
6515 Trinity Court Suite 201,Dublin CA 94568 .
