y i
Tests
Monitoring wells have been drilled in several locations
on the premises . Two monitor wells have been tested for the
purpose of supplying make-up water and were found to be
satisfactory,
Monitor Well - 6
MW 6 is located near the retort pit (.east central)
as shown bn the attached charts , It delivers
about six gallons per minute of Chromium +6
solution , 700 to 1 , 400 ppm. The well is 75 feet
deep and screened from 30 to 75 feet below surface
in clay and sandy silt . It will operate for only
forty minutes , twice a day .
Monitor Well -- 213
MW 213 is located in the southwest quadrant of the .
property , some 400 feet from the retort pit . It
delivers about fifteen gallons per minute continuously
of Chromium +6 solution , 90 to 140 ppm. MW 213 is
182 feet deep and screened from 120 to 180 feet
below surface in silty sand , clay , and silt . It is
anticipated that MW 213 would be operated eight . _
hours a day , three to five days per week, depending
upon MCTC treating activity .
Benefit
The use of ground water from these wells will do two
things :
A. Provide MCTC with make-up water .
B . Remove soluble Chromium from the ground water.
By far the biggest benefit is to improve water quality .
Conclusion
It is requested that a permit be issued to allow-water
to be pumped from the ground to provide make-up water for
the wood treating operation .
Yo s Truly ,
.
