Meet with the U-Haul representatives and identify aboveground structures, overhead <br /> power lines, underground storage tanks and buried lines, etc., with drawings to be <br /> supplied by U-Haul; <br /> B. Contact Underground Service Alert (USA) a minimum of 4$ hours prior to excavation to <br /> locate buried sewer, water, gas, electrical, and telephone lines; and, <br /> C. Identify local emergency facilities and the emergency response community. <br /> Preparatory work arrangements will include the following: <br /> A. Establish the location of shutoff valves, power, water and control switches with the <br /> assistance of the U-Haul Facility Managers; <br /> B. Check emergency equipment; first aid equipment, fire extinguishers, absorbent material, <br /> etc.; <br /> C. Post appropriate signs, barricades, and emergency phone numbers. Signs shall state "No <br /> Smoking". Any source of ignition shall be at least 50 feet away from the excavation site; <br /> D. Tank contents will be positively identified before excavation and tank removal; and, <br /> E. All tanks will be monitored for flammability and oxygen content with a properly <br /> calibrated flammable/combustible gas analyzer and oxygen meter. Calibration of the <br /> units must be within the last three months with an approved tag on the unit. This <br /> information must be logged. <br /> 4.2 EXCAVATION AND REMOVAL OF UST'S <br /> The following is an outline of work activities to be performed at the site. <br /> • Nuisance dust shall be kept to a minimum at all times. A water hose will be on-site at all <br /> times during operation and shall be used to prevent the generation of dust around the general <br /> site. <br /> • It shall be confirmed that liquids have been removed by U-Haul prior to rinsing of the tanks. <br />
