1.0
INTRODUCTION
This site closure report has been prepared to summarize the removal of
containerized hazardous waste at Tracy Auxiliary Field No. 5, Tracy, California.
1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Tracy Municipal Airport or Tracy Auxiliary Field No. 5 is located in the City of
Tracy, San Joaquin County, California (see Figure 1). The field was operated as an
auxiliary landing field during the period from 1942 to 1947. It is now serving
commuter flights.
The underground storage tank (UST) at this facility had an 8,000-gallon capacity
and was dry. Features at the UST site and its vicinity are shown in Figure 2.
The work performed under Delivery Order No. 0012 included:
• Preparation of project work plans.
• Removal and disposal of one 10,000-gallon UST and contents. This UST was
later determined to be an 8,000-gallon tank.
• Removal and disposal of about 100 linear feet of underground piping, including
vent pipe. The length of the pipe was later determined to be 30 linear feet.
• Sampling and analysis of soil associated with the removal and disposal of
excavated materials (UST, piping, and soil).
• Backfilling the excavation with uncontaminated stockpiled soil and/or imported
clean fill.
• Preparation of this site closure report.
1-1
