S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USAGE), CKY started to mobilize to Tracy Auxiliary Field No. 5
on August 25, 1995. While on site, CKY surveyed the UST site to locate the UST
and piping. Estimated locations for the tank and piping were carefully evaluated and
identified based on site information and surface characteristics. Once identified, the
tank location, dimensions, and ancillary equipment were marked with a marking
paint.
The UST and piping were exposed using a backhoe. The UST was found to be dry.
2.3 REMOVAL OF TANKS AND PIPING
Approximately 30 feet of 2-inch pipewere removed from the site during the period
August 25 - 28, 1995 under the supervision of Michael DeKlotz, CKY Site
Supervisor. Bert Hikichi of the USACE inspected removal activities. Following
exposure of the tank and piping, the piping was then disassembled and cut into
pieces. One soil sample was collected in the pipe trench per the direction of Bert
Hikichi and Robert McClellon of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
2-1
