12 . All injuries shall be reported promptly to an authorized <br /> representative of the employer so that arrangements can be <br /> made for medical or first aid treatment . <br /> 13. When lifting heavy objects , use the large muscles of the leg <br /> instead of the smaller muscles of the back . <br /> 14 . Shoes with thin or badly worn soles shall not be worn . <br /> 15 . Do not throw material , tools , or other objects from <br /> buildings or structures until proper precautions are taken <br /> to protect others from the falling object hazard . <br /> 16 . Wash thoroughly after handling injurious or poisonous <br /> substances , and follow all special instructions from <br /> authorized sources regarding this matter . Hands should be <br /> thoroughly cleaned just prior to eating if they have been in <br /> contact with paint or similar substances . <br /> 17 . Arrange work so that you are able to face your ladder and <br /> use both your hands while climbing . <br /> 18 . Gasoline shall not be used for cleaning purposes . <br /> 19 . No burning , welding , or other source of ignition shall be <br /> applied to any enclosed tank or vessel , even if there are <br /> some openings , until it has first been determined that no <br /> possibility of explosion exists , and until authority for the <br /> work is obtained from the employer ' s representative . <br /> 20 . Keep faces of hammers in good condition to avoid flying <br /> nails and braised fingers . <br /> 21 . Hold cold chisels in such a way that the knuckles will be <br /> protected if the hammer misses the head . Chisels struck by <br /> others should be held by tongs or similar holding devices . <br /> 22 . Do not use pipit or Stilson wrenches as a substitute for <br /> other wrenches . <br /> 23. Wrenches should not be altered by the addition of handle <br /> extensions or "cheaters . " <br /> 24 . Files shall be equipped with handles . Never use a file as a <br /> punch or pry . <br /> 25 . Do not use a screwdriver as a chisel . <br /> 26 . Keep handsaws sharp . <br /> 27 . Do not push wheelbarrows with handles in an upright <br /> position . <br /> Page - 15 <br />
