SUMMARY OF THIRD AND FOURTH QUARTER ACTIVITIES The "workplan for Completion of the Site Assessment Plan and Pollution Control and Mitigation Plan" (WorkPlan) task ac- tivities from February 12 through August 1988 are summarized below: Task 1--Onsite wells: Completed first quarter. Task 2--Offsite wells: Six new locations for groundwater monitoring wells were proposed. The property owner has been contacted and M&B is awaiting access approval. Task 3--Groundwater monitoring: Water levels were measured in March and May. Groundwater samples were collected from 24 wells and analyzed for the regular suite analyses. Next quarter groundwater sampling is scheduled for August 22 to September 2 , 1988 . Task 4--Aquifer Testing: Aquifer tests were completed. Analysis of data is complete and a technical memorandum sum- marizing the data, analysis, and conclusions were submitted August 1988 . Task 5--Hydrogeological characterization: Scheduled to begin in April 1989 . Task 6--Background Soil Sampling: Completed second quarter. Onsite soils data used in lieu of offsite samples. Task 7 , 8 , and 9--Soils Sampling: Completed second quarter. Task 10--Tank Integrity Assessment: Based on the tank in- tegrity assessment, two underground fuel storage tanks are being replaced by above grade tanks. Agreement of how to decommission the remaining, no longer used underground creosote/oil unloading tank has been reached. Task 11--Dioxin Assessment: State comments received in letters of January 29, 1988 and May 3 , 1988 were responded to in the April 1988 workplan and May 27 , 1988 response to comment letters. Sampling is scheduled for April 1989 . Task 12--Preliminary PHERA: Completed second quarter. Task 15--SRWCF Treatability Assessment: A technical memo- randum, submitted August 1988 , presenting an updated analysis of the data collected during the third and fourth quarters. Task 16--Sewer Line Integrity Assessment: Completed second quarter.
