' 0 0
SECTION Z
PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF TANK
SITES
This workplan has been prepared for the closure of two underground
storage tanks located in Stockton, California (San Joaquin County).
The tanks are owned by Catellus Development Corporation. The tank
sites lie adjacent to active warehousing facilities at 1325 & 1541 West
Weber Avenue (Figure 1-1). The respective facilities are currently
occupied by Graphic Contractors and General Potato and Onion. The
storage tanks are not in use.
' Tank Histories
' Documentation of the installation and use of the tanks could not be
located. Neither San Joaquin County nor the property owner nor the
lessees have any records regarding the installation date and tank
use. Therefore, size and construction details are unknown.
According to the manager of General Potato and Onion, the tanks
were probably installed when the warehouses were constructed in
' the mid-1960s.
Pmfiniinary Tank Survey
Because information was not available regarding the exact location
and size of the underground storage tanks, the tanks were surveyed
on June 19, 1991 by Spectrum Environmental Services. Spectrum
utilized a combination of direct measurement of the tanks and
indirect geophysical techniques. Spectrum was able to determine
tank capacity, orientation in the ground, depth, and approximate
amount of remaining product.
1 The surveyindicated that the storage tank at 1325 West Weber
g
Avenue lies adjacent to the building as depicted in Figure 1-2. The
' tank was found to have_a.-capacity of approximately 500 gallons and
has approximate1300 gallons of unknown rodu `remaining in it.
The top of the tank is approximately 3-112 feet below the ground
' surface and the bottom is at approximately 7-112 feet.
1-1
