place with plastic caps. Each tube will be labeled with a unique
identification number, date and time of sampling, project name and
number, and samplers' initials. Tubes will then be placed in a zip
' lock type plastic bag, sealed, and placed on ice in a cooler. The
number of soil samples collected at each location will follow the
guidelines provided by San Joaquin County in the permit application
' form.
Groundwater SamLin
If significant quantities of ground water are present in the
' excavation, the water will be sampled. Sampling will be
accomplished by the use of a pre-cleaned 12-inch, Teflon bailer,
equipped with a new rope at each tank location. After filling, the
bailer will be emptied into laboratory-provided containers. The filled
containers will be labeled and sealed in plastic bags in a manner
similar to the soil samples, then placed on ice in a cooler.
Uharrat=
Upon completion of sampling at each tank site, the samples will be
shipped to the laboratory under chain of custody. The analyzing lab
will be Curtis & Tompkins, Ltd. located in Berkeley, California.
Curtis & Tompkins is a California DHS-certified laboratory.
Analyses
The soil and water samples will be analyzed according to the
appropriate protocol for the specific tank contents. Unless the fuel in
the tank at 1325 West Weber Avenue is identified during emptying,
the liquid will be classified as an unknown fuel. The samples from
this location would be analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
characterized as gasoline, Total Extractable Petroleum
HydrocarbonzJBTX&E (Benzene, Toluene, Xylenes & Ethylbenzenes),
 Tetraethyl Lead,-and Ethylene Dibromide.
~
The samples collected ll cted from the 1541 West Weber Avenue tank site
will be analyzed according to the protocol for tanks formerly
' containing gasoline. The tests at this location will consist of Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons characterized as gasoline, BTX&E,
Tetraethyl Lead and Ethylene Dibromide.
' The following test methods will be used by the laboratory in analyzing
the samples:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline and Total Extractable
Petroleum Hydrocarbons -- EPA Method 8015/EPA 5030;
2-3
