Company Safety Rules 8 <br /> Franzen-Hill Corporation <br /> dba FHEMCO <br /> 'S . COMPRESSED GAS CYLINDERS . <br /> a . All gas cylinders shall have their contents clearly <br /> marked on the outside of each cylinder . <br /> b . Cylinders must be placed and secured in an upright <br /> position , including storage and transfer . <br /> C . Cylinder valves must be protected with caps or guards <br /> when not in use . <br /> d . All leaking or defective cylinders must be removed from <br /> service promptly , tagged as inoperable and placed in an <br /> open space removed from the work area . <br /> e . All operators are required to inspect equipment prior to <br /> utilization . Oxygen and gas cylinders placed in storage <br /> are to be kept 20 feet apart or have the fire barrier <br /> between them . <br /> f . Full and empty cylinders are to be stored separately and <br /> protected from excess heat , snow , ice or physical damage . <br /> 6 . HOUSEKEEPING <br /> a . Proper housekeeping is the foundation for a safe work <br /> environment . It definitely prevents accidents and fires , <br /> as well as creating a business-like work area . <br /> b . Pile or store material in a stable manner so that it will <br /> not be subject to falling . <br /> C . Rubbish , scraps and debris shall be removed from the work <br /> area as soon as practical . <br /> d . It is not permissible to leave materials and supplies in <br /> stairways , walkways , near floor openings or at the edge <br /> of the building when exterior walls are not built . <br /> 7 . LADDERS AND SCAFFOLDS . <br /> a . All employees are obligated to check to see that ladders <br /> are free from defects prior to use . Ladders must have <br /> safety feet . <br /> b . Straight ladders must be tied off , geld or nailed down <br /> for stability . <br />
