Specification No . : RGS0024-87 <br /> Part II - SPECIFIC CONDITIONS <br /> Section 14 - Electrical Work <br /> 14. 13 . 3 Connectors shall be of the type manufactured by the <br /> Burndy Company or approved equal , and shall be large <br /> enough to enclose all conductor strands . <br /> 14 . 13 . 4 Each splice or tap shall be provided with insulation <br /> equivalent to the original conductor by application of a <br /> minimum of four half-lapped layers of Scotch #22 , 1-1/ 2 <br /> inch wise plastic tape . All irregular surfaces shall be <br /> properly padded with S c o t c h f i I putty prior to <br /> application of plastic tape . Plastic tape shall overlap <br /> the original conduct insulation a minimum of ( 3 ) inches <br /> in each direction to provide a secure seal . Splice <br /> shall be thoroughly covered with Scotchkote . <br /> 14 . 13 . 5 All conductors shall be delivered to the job in complete <br /> coils , containing manufacturer ' s name with an approval <br /> tag indicating conductor size and type of insulation. <br /> Conductors shall be color-coded with a separate color <br /> for each phase . White shall be used for neutral <br /> conductors only , and green shall be used only for ground <br /> conductors . <br /> 14 . 13 . 6 The Contractor shall install cable per manufacturer ' s <br /> recommendations . Methods of gripping cables , tension <br /> limitations shall be coordinated prior to pulling all <br /> cables . To limit sidewall pressure at bends in ducts <br /> and conduit runs , the pulling force in pounds shall not <br /> exceed values set forth by the cable manufacturer . <br /> 14 . 15 Electrical devices shall be as follows : color shall be <br /> ivory or brown as selected by Engineer for each location <br /> ( manufacturer ' s number indicate function , not color <br /> selection) . <br /> 14 . 15 . 1 Single Pole Switches_: Specification grade quiet type , <br /> rated 15 amperes at 125 volts A . C . bakelite handles , <br /> Sierra 5011 series , suitable for outdoor use . <br /> 14 . 15 . 2 Three -Way Switches : Specification grade quiet type , <br /> rated 15 amperes at 125 volts A . C . , bakelite handles , <br /> Sierra 5013 series , suitable for outdoor use . <br /> 14 . 15 . 3 Duplex Receptacles : Specification grade , 15 amperes , <br /> 125 volts , 3 wire grounding type , Sierra 1404 series , <br /> suitable for outdoor use . <br /> XIV-8 <br />
