PETROLEUM TANK REPAIR WORK <br /> 13215 - 1 <br /> PETROLEUM TANK REPAIR WORK <br /> SECTION 13215 <br /> A. Scope of Work <br /> 1. Erect additional barricades and tape to isolate work area from PG&E yard operations. <br /> 2. Excavate at fuel island: <br /> a. Saw cut and remove concrete at fuel island as required to excavate diesel fuel <br /> piping. <br /> b. Excavate back fill at fuel island to expose buried diesel fuel piping. <br /> C. Cut and remove all diesel fuel piping elbows and "T" fittings until only a straight <br /> run of piping remains between the diesel storage tank and the dispenser. <br /> * If visible soil contamination is present, contractor shall immediately stop work and <br /> notify PG&E's representative in charge. <br /> d. Take appropriate measures to collect liquid diesel and to prevent it from draining <br /> into the backfill. <br /> e. Stockpile removed piping and fittings on plastic sheeting or in an open -top drum. <br /> f. Expand trench sufficiently to facilitate removal of product piping from secondary <br /> containment piping. <br /> g. Pull and cut diesel product piping from its' secondary containment piping. <br /> (1) Cut into approximately eight foot segments for ease of handling and <br /> disposal. <br /> (2) Pressure wash interior of all removed piping and fittings into bung-top <br /> drum. <br /> (3) Transport drum to facility's hazardous waste storage area and turn over to <br /> PG&E for disposal. <br /> (4) Contractor is responsible for disposal of piping and fittings. <br /> h. Flush out secondary containment piping <br /> (1) Turn rinsate over to PG&E in bung top drums for disposal as hazardous or <br /> recyclable waste. <br /> 3. Repair secondary outer piping: <br /> a. Replace removed fiberglass secondary pipe elbows with new Environ <br /> polyethylene flex conduit. Secure to fiberglass pipe using manufacturer-approved <br /> neoprene boots and stainless steel bands. <br /> b. Pressurize outer conduit piping and soap new polyethylene joints to confirm <br /> integrity. (This will be a potential area for ground water to leak into the sump). <br /> 4. Install bravo box under diesel fuel dispenser and under both unleaded fuel dispensers. <br /> 5. Install new fuel hose: <br /> a. Pull new direct-burial ''mEnviron Geoflex co-axial fuel hose with integral secondary <br /> containment (I.D. 1'/"; O.D. 2") through existing secondary containment pipe and <br /> new polyethylene flex conduit. <br /> b. Connect hose fittings to existing dispenser and tank fittings using a fuel- <br /> compatible thread compound. <br />
