r
antec'sECAI e.
a'Z CITY OF MANTECA
La rnf.,rwu.,
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
April 13 , 1987
Mr. Jerry Wolnoski
Knapp Ford
555 North Main Street
Manteca, California 95336
RE:Underground Storage Tank
Dear Mr. Wolnoski:
on March 3 , 1987 , the 500 gallon waste oil storage
tank, buried on your property at 555 N. Main Street,
was inspected by the Assistant City Engineer and the
Fire Marshall to determine if the tank should be
removed or abandoned in place.
The tank is located under the slab floor inAthe {3)
southeast corner of the first garage bay.
inch drain pipe extends approximately thirty (30) feet
to the work area. The drain pipe allows mechanics to
dump oil into the tank from the work area.
The City Engineering Department recommends that the
tank and three (3) inch drain pipe be abandoned in
place in accordance with City and San Joaquin Local
Health District requirements.
Due to the size of the tank and its close proximity to
what appears to be a structural support column, it is
our opinion that the most practical solution would be
to abandon the tank in place.
If the tank is to be removed, Knapp Ford shall retain
the services of an Engineering Consultant and provide
the City with a plan of removal. The Consultant' s
report shall discuss soil stability and the necessity
of using shoring to protect the structural integrity
of the building.
1001 W. CENTER ST. 9 P.O. BOX 3000 • MANTECA, CA 95336 • (209) 239-8460
