Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Site Code 2226, 2004 East Mariposa Road, Stockton California
Dear Ms. Heran:
I am writing on behalf of Mr. Bill Williams of Economy Fence regarding the above referenced
site.
In April 25, 1991, one 2,000 gallon underground (u/g) gasoline storage tank was removed at the
subject site by Crisp Tank Testing. Two soil samples were collected beneath the tank, one at
each end.
Soil samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX), total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG), ethylene dibromide (EDB), and total lead by FGL
Environmental utilizing EPA methods 8020, 3050, 8010, and 7421. Analytical results are
summarized in Table 1. Laboratory data sheets are included in Attachment 1. Laboratory
analyses of soil samples detected very low levels of residual hydrocarbons in soils beneath the
former tank (Table 1).
In correspondence dated August 28, 1991, San Joaquin County Public Health Service (SJCPHS)
informed Mr. Williams that the subject site could not be recommended for final closure. Your
decision was based upon the results of a leaching potential analyses performed on the site as
recommended by the LUFT Manual. The leaching potential analysis is presented in Section V
of the SJCPHS UGST worksheet for site closure (Worksheet, Attachment 2).
The leaching potential analysis was designed to permit estimating concentrations of total
petroleum (TPH) and BTEX that can be left in place without threatening groundwater. Three
levels of TPH and BTEX concentrations were derived from modeling for sites which fall into
1041592.ktt
