Box 2009 (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) Stockton,California 95201 <br /> 9<<F O R~ <br /> (209) 468-3400 <br /> Facility Name Modesto Tallow Comoanv <br /> Address 4221 E Mariposa <br /> Date of Inspection 11/6/89 Inspector Charles Hunt <br /> MONITORING ALTERNATIVE #7 Regarding 240 gallon diesel tank <br /> Limited to underground storage tanks which have infrequent inputs and withdrawals <br /> and where the liquid level in the tank can be measured to an accuracy of +5 <br /> gallons or less when the tank is half full. <br /> This monitoring alternative shall include: <br /> X Annual precision .test on tank and piping. <br /> X Tank gauging performed as follows: <br /> X Tank must be capable of being secured to prevent unauthorized <br /> inputs and withdrawals. <br /> X Tank must have no inputs or withdrawals for a least a 48 hour <br /> period (2 days) at the end of consecutive periods lasting up <br /> to 7 days. (For example: tank in use Monday through Friday, <br /> they locked over weekend) . <br /> X Liquid level measurements are taken at the beginning and end <br /> of the monitoring period (lasting at least 48 hours) . (For <br /> example: level measured and recorded Friday night before <br /> locking and again on Monday morning before opening.) <br /> X If liquid level varies more than 18 of the tank volume or 5 <br /> gallons, which ever is less, between measurements, an <br /> unauthorized release shall be assumed to have occurred and <br /> shall be reported to the local agency within 24 hours, as per <br /> Article 5, Sect. 2652 of the regulations and further <br /> evaluations shall be performed to verify or disprove the <br /> variations. <br /> Implementation of the monitoring alternative requires that the following circles <br /> items be completed by the dates specified. <br /> 1 . Precision test(s) must be performed by 1216/89 and results submitted <br /> to this office within 30 days of the test. <br /> 2. Tank gauging must be started immediately.
