The purpose of our study was to obtain representative soil
samples from the site to evaluate the possible presence of selected metals. All
methods used for the collection, analysis, and transportation of samples complied
with regulations and guidelines set forth in the California Code of Regulations, Title
22, and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 40, as well as acceptable
professional engineering procedures and applicable local regulations.
BACKGROUND
Upon receipt of our Work Order from you, we notified Mr. Doug Wilson from
the Public Health Services, San Joaquin County, of our intent to sample the subject
property and invite him to observe our sampling, if he so desired. Subsequently, Mr.
Tom Sweeso, of the Public Health Service, San Joaquin County informed us that there
was no evidence that a waste oil sump ever existed on the site other than from an
anonymous caller. Examination of the site with Mr. Sweeso was made on the day soil
sampling was performed and no physical evidence of a waste oil sump could be found.
Therefore, Mr. Sweeso indicated that our investigation and soil testing should be
directed to the possible presence of heavy metals only.
