Box 388 (445 N San Joaquin Street)
Stockton, CA. 95201-0388
ATTN: Eleanor Ratliff
Dear Eleanor:
This letter will serve to notify you that I am in receipt of document copies
from San Joaquin County as follows:
I. Notice to abate from Environmental Health Division.
2. Inspection Form from Hazardous Materials Division.
3. Underground Tank Program Inspection Report from
San Joaquin Health District.
4. Underground Storage Tank Program Fee Worksheet
from Public Health Services.
I wish to again emphasize that I am representing Walter L. Shockey, property
owner of the Ripon address (850 Milgeo) and not the Shockey and Sons Trucking
Firm. Except for the Notice of Abate form, all documents are referenced to
Shockey and Sons Trucking. Mr. Shockey as property owner was first notified
by San Joaquin County (by phone) of the underground storage tank situation in
February, 1994. It does not seem reasonable or fair that the county is
placing such high penalties and fees (approx. $10,000.00) without reasonable
notification. Five of the six tanks on the property existed when Mr. Shockey
acquired the property in 1978. All six tanks have not been operational for
the last three or four years.
Since notification to Mr. Walter Shockey of San Joaquin County's underground
storage tank concerns we have worked diligently to rectify county concerns
about the Ripon property. I am in the process of evaluating bids for tank
removal. Once selection is awarded, successful contractor will coordinate
with the county and myself to schedule removal operations of the six tanks.
I would again plead with San Joaquin County to review penalty/fee charges
as they are assessed on Mr. Walter Shockey. These charges are burdensome
on an individual, especially one whose only source of income is Social Security.
If you have questions concerning this matter, please call me on my home
phone (510) 530-4418.
Sincerely,
xp 4X
Lee Shockey 7
4011 Linwood Avenue
Oakland, CA. 94602
