Bell and spigot Using the Chem Cure Pak joining system Follow the instructions and precautions on the package.The Chem Cure Pak (continued) and Ameron adhesives have been designed so that sufficient heat will be generated by the Pak to cure the adhesive in one hour at ambient temperatures • dawn to 0°F(-18°C). For lower temperatures or for extra heavy fittings, specific recommendations should be requested from Ameron. • Assemble pipe using standard field adhesive and installation procedures. • Thoroughly mix the chemicals as directed on the Chem Cure Pak wrapper. • Wrap the Pak around the connection, centering it over the tapered section of the joint—not over the end of the collar or fitting. Make sure the entire bonding area to which the adhesive has been applied is covered. Use one Pak per joint.Thus, a coupling will require two Paks. • Secure the Pak with tie wires. • Cut slits at least 1 inch wide(25 mm)on either side of the top of the Pak with a knife. • Inject water into the slits with the activator syringe or pour a small amount in from a cup. The Chem Cure Pak should react and produce steam in about 30 seconds. If no reaction occurs, add additional water.
